After a highly conventional English education and
five years as a journalist in London, working on Wine
Magazine, Taste (a food and wine magazine, now defunct)
and the London daily paper the Evening Standard, Paul
Richardson said ‘goodbye to all that’ and left the UK for Spain
in 1991.

He spent the decade of the 1990s living on the Mediterranean island of Ibiza with his Spanish partner Nacho. On his small homestead on the island’s north coast he began his first experiments in agriculture and animal husbandry, keeping goats, pigs, chickens, turkeys, and growing all manner of fruit and vegetables.

On his move to Extremadura, Western Spain, in 2000, he bought another small farm with a vineyard and olive groves, where he continues to grow, cook, and eat his own food!
